MOVIE REVIEW: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Directed by and starring Ben Stiller as Walter, this film explores an unnoticed man’s quest to find romance by adding adventure and courage to his life and fodder to his on-line dating portfolio.  Unfortunately for Walter, his noteworthy life experiences nowadays are a result of daydreaming; a perplexing dilemma for anyone but even more poignant for Walter since he works at Life magazine.

After a somewhat slow start comprising of cheap laughs from Walter’s “zoned out” moments, this journey picks up momentum from exceptional cinematography and an ambitious storyline surrounding the mystery of a missing photo negative that may end up being the magazine’s final cover shot–ever.

This is an enjoyable movie that allows viewers to escape with Walter on several adventures and yet it still ties up many loose ends before a satisfying final scene; and that might be Mitty’s most noteworthy feat. 😉
